Michael Ryan is a research engineer at Intel Research Pittsburgh. He received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005. He joined the Pittsburgh lab in February of 2006.

Since joining Michael has worked primarily on Reliable Email (RE) and Log-Based Architectures (LBA). He has also contributed to the Dynamic Physical Rendering (DPR) simulator. His interests include systems level development and emulation as well as rapid application development.
More recently, Michael has become involved with several initiatives in the area of data rich computing. The foremost of these is Tashi, a VM management system that aims to utilize data locality information to make intelligent decisions about VM management.
